Late Night DIY
I have been so inspired by this amazing site, Love Maegan.
It made me realize that I haven't made an accessories for a very long time.
So, while watching some old Star Wars the other night, I pulled out some old supplies and had a play.
I made this by using the screw in studs, so no sewing at all!
The best part is that I can take it all apart and re-use the supplies for other projects when I get tired of this one.
I managed to do a little bit of pattern making and sewing, and made this cute pajama top for my girl...
I'll be making some matching pants as soon as I get a chance, and will share both patterns on here as a free download. Yay for free stuff!

It's All About The Crochet
I can't help myself...
I'm hooked!
(Oh dear, I am sorry the the total and utter lameness of that little pun)
But I really am falling in love with crocheting again.
I find myself staring at pages of patterns, wanting to start something new while my hands are busy finishing something else off.
But how can I resist so many things?
Where do I begin??

Crochet and Coffee
I can't remember the last time I crocheted anything....
I know it has been a while.
A long, long while.
I did a quick search and found this post here...
*Gasp*
Surely, April 2010 could not be the last time I picked up a hook!
Sadly, I think it was.
It makes sense though, way back when I had only one child.
Eve would have been 1 year old by then, she was a good little sleeper by this stage, my evenings were free for crafting.
Though mostly I chose to sleep.
But now I have found myself with a little (and I mean little) time in the evenings to do some crafting.
Since my girl is usually in our bed, my sewing machine is a little loud.
I found the simplest of joys.
Sitting in front of the heater, rugged up all snug and warm, pushing that yarn in and out, round and round.
I have always wanted to make a big granny square blanket, and now I am finally doing it!
I even managed to snag myself a few minutes during the day *gasp* with both kids temporarily distracted.
And this, is when coffee and crochet, go hand in hand.

DIY Edible Finger Paint
The sun is shining for the first time in what feels like months (probably just a week in reality).
I have so much washing to do.
The one time my daughter wets the bed is when it is pouring down with rain, freezing cold, and she manages to pee through our only two doonas.
Aaargh!
My kids are fans of the good old tv, but only for short bursts.
I try and catch up on washing.
I can't bring the kids outside with the piercing cold wind, and a girl who must be a nudist.
(I swear she would go nude in the snow!!)
I check the cupboards for art supplies.
She has done stickers.
She has coloured.
She mad a giant mess with play doh.
PAINT!
She loves to paint, and the little guy can join in too.
Awesome.
Except...
There is no more paint.
It's ok, we can go for a walk up to the shops.
Get some fresh air, enjoy the sunshine, maybe go to the park.
Except...
The pram is in the boot of the car.
At work with my husband.
Aaargh!
So what do I do?
Pinterest, of course!
I type in finger paint and a whole swathe of choices pop up in front of me.
I click on this one here, and decide it is a winner.
It requires minimal ingredients.
Powdered milk.
Water.
Food dye.
Easy!
Mix 3 cups of powdered milk with one cup of water.
Divide into bowls and colour with food dye (you don't need too much).
Makes some funky coral-like patterns...
The little guy was not quite sure what to do at first...
Oh, I see....
This is kinda fun!
Admiring his work...
Messy fun!
Let's see if the big girl likes it too...
Oh this is fun!
Goopy...
....Messy, fun!
(Sorry for the photos all over the place. Blogger does not want to co-operate today and would much rather be all artsy and chuck my pics wherever it wants!)

DIY Apple Stamp Fabric
I saw something on Pinterest, and I fell in love.
I decided that I just had to make it.
I do this a lot.
I see something.
I "oooh" and "aaah".
And I never actually make/cook it.
Never. Ever.
Until now!
I saw a gorgeous fabric printed using an apple cut in half.
It looked cute, so pretty.
I realized that I actually had everything I needed to do it...
So I went ahead...
I gathered, chopped, painted and stamped....
Then ironed the design into the fabric...
I had the idea of a cushion in mind while I stamped, but did a few extra apples on the side of my fabric for another project.
You never know when you might need it!
I really, really love it!
What do you think?
This was so easy to do, and cheap too!
The paint I have had for a few years and cost me $5.20 each.
They are tempting me back into stencilling....
:)
Am I the only one who uses their iron for crafting only? I can't remember the last time I used it on actual clothing....!
