A Spring Tee Sewn For My Boy

I did some rushed sewing yesterday.
My little guy is growing very fast, and his wardrobe is shrinking faster.
Spring has finally sprung and the days have been delightfully warmer.
A cute Spring tee was what my boy needed!

Sp I grabbed a shirt that I knew fit him well, and did a rough job tracing around it and cutting some soft, thin jersey fabric I had lying around.

I whipped it up and finished it off with a gorgeous iron on decal from my favourite book, Sukie Iron Ons.

I am pretty happy with how it turned out!

Late Night DIY

I have been so inspired by this amazing site, Love Maegan.
It made me realize that I haven't made an accessories for a very long time.
So, while watching some old Star Wars the other night, I pulled out some old supplies and had a play.

I made this by using the screw in studs, so no sewing at all!
The best part is that I can take it all apart and re-use the supplies for other projects when I get tired of this one.

I managed to do a little bit of pattern making and sewing, and made this cute pajama top for my girl...

I'll be making some matching pants as soon as I get a chance, and will share both patterns on here as a free download. Yay for free stuff!

Chocolate Chip Slab Cookies {RECIPE}

As you can see, I have been on a bit of a baking frenzy.

I whipped up my favourite Vegan Chocolate Cake out of boredom the other night....

Then I flipped open one of my favourite cook books and found a new recipe to try...

And I have to say...... They were delicious!!

The wait for them to cool is torturous, but the reward is well worth it.

Room temperature is best, when the insides are still soft and a bit gooey.

This photo is after they had been in the fridge for a while. When chilled, they turn into creamy fudge-like squares.

*Drools*

But I do have to say, I have been productive in other ways too!

I finished off these cute little pants for my boy, using the same method as in my tutorial for perfect fit pants...

I have been busy crocheting every night...

And some other mystery gifts I will show you later!

Perfect Fit Pajama Pants {TUTORIAL}

My pajama pants were getting old.
They were well worn, faded and thinning.
After their latest spin in the washing machine, they were injured.
A bit tear down the back.
Oh dear.
It's Winter, too cold for my other thin 3/4 length pajama pants.
A while ago I made these pants for my hubby...

And these ones for my little guy...

I used up all of that lovely flanelette fabric but had to buy more next time I was in that store.
It was going to be for ME!
Of course other sewing projects got in the way, until the day my old pj pants finally fell apart.
I whipped up a new pair (which I LOVE!) and did a quick basic tutorial.
You may notice I have sewn them a little different to the 'regular' method.
I find this way I get enough room in the rear and they are a much better fit.
So please excuse my crappy drawing skills, and my hurried explanation, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to comment or email me.

If you don't have old pants to chop up, trace around a pair you have that fit nicely. Trace around the front half of the leg and the back half separate though!

Another Day, Another Dress

I finally finished tweaking my green floral dress.
Done!
Complete!
I can't remember the last time I used a pattern for clothing for myself and actually finished it, or liked the finished results.
But this one..... I like.
I just need an opportunity to wear it.
It all started with this pattern...



And with some minor adjustments it ended as this...

But it's not the only thing I have been sewing lately.

I made some pj pants for me and might even pop up a little tutorial on how to make perfect fit pj pants. I am in love with mine!

I wore my vintage spotty dress that I gave a little makeover...

 And I have been busy crocheting big blocks for my crochet blanket project...

I can't wait to see it finished!

Desperate Dress Makeover

I have a confession...
I love bargains.
I really love online bargains.
I have snapped up many a bargain with online shopping.
Pants for $3 with free postage.
Assorted jewellery for 99c with free postage.
Gorgeous dress for $14, down from $69.

My latest buy was a dress, it was marked down again, and again.
I liked something about it, but hated something about it too.
I was lured in, and finally resisted the urge when it dropped to a staggering $3.
It looked lovely on the online photos...
When I got it, it looked the same.
But I knew it would be an unflattering design.
Nothing to show my waist, so I looked like a giant blue and black blob complete with ruffles.

Yes, I did have a moment of panic.

I did have a moment of doubt.

Could I rescue this??

I looked at it, and got out my scissors...

I chopped all the bottom frilly, puffy stuff off and was left with this.

I chucked it on, found a belt that matched and threw the remaining fabric around my neck as a scafr.

Voila!

It is way too short for my liking, but with tights it will be much more comfortable! 

Though I have considered adding a little something to it, I just haven't decided yet!

Since I was on a role with sewing clothes, I dug out this old pattern from my never-ending pile of work in progresses...

I haven't taken many photos, as it is just finished and in the wash.

But as you can see by this photo, I changed it up a bit.

I love it!

It's A Turtle Turtleneck!

I *finally* finished something for my girl.
Finally!
It takes a while with the little spare time I have just to get it sewn up.
Then to get her to try it on, and take it off (I had to diffuse some tantrums here!) again so I cold make some alterations.
But, I finally did it!

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

Sewing for Baby (No, not mine!)

Some amazing ladies I know are preggers, up the duff, with child, impregnated.

Yep, they are pregnant.

Of course I get clucky.

But no more children for us, my nerves barely manage through a day with the two I already have!

So what do I do?

I make things!

Baby things.

Cute things.

Like blankets...

I used these fancy little disc thingies....

In particular this one...

 To make a pretty little stitching detail all around the edge...

I love it.

Then I made a cute little whale...

Then I made some bibs, not your ordinary ones, but those super cool bandana bibs!

 I had a helpful little guy want to model for me.

He stayed very still, unlike my usual models!

Oh and so sorry for the words just scattered around everywhere.... This new way of adding and editing photos stuffs everything up and makes me so frustrated when it just won't work for me. :S
