Late night sewing

My sewing machine has had a real workout these last few days, especially last night when I attempted my first little clothes.
I found it so much easier than sewing for myself!!!
Of course I have no idea what they'll look like on, but they seem to look pretty cute hanging so I have faith!
I dug out this fabric:

It was an op shop find (of course!) and has been cut into small pieces but so cute I have been wanting to make something out of it for a long long time.
So without pattern or any idea what exactly I was sewing I ended up with these:

Then I decided-don't stop there! Keep going you crafty woman!
So I did.
And now I have these:

Oooo more pretty fabric....

Crochet mary janes modelled by my trusty octopus I made in the last few days of sewing:

They came out very small though.......Hmm!

More stenciling!

And of course another nappy, and also a microfibre insert.

Yes, yes WONKY SEAMS!!

And I have to ask, why are all the microfibre cloths out there FLURO????????

So that was it, for yesterday.
Maybe some more stuff today.
Though the weather is the 'I could just stay in bed and snuggle under the blanket with some hot tea and a crappy movie' kind of weather.
Cold.
Windy.
Little bit of the wet stuff too.
I guess winter really is coming after all.

Cold weather & hearty soup + recipe

So today the weather turned dark, windy and almost wet so fast. I looked in the near bare pantry and decided that a nice warm soup for dinner would be perfect.
I was taught how to make this soup years ago and it is one of the only ways I like to eat lentils. I am a superbly fussy eater so when I tasted this soup I was impressed!
Of course I had to add pasta letters to mine-they make food fun!

And I made some yummy garlic and herb breads from some rolls I found in the freezer. Yummy!

Here's the recipe:

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 cup red lentils
  • 2 carrots, chopped roughly
  • Vege salt or vege stock
  • Pepper
METHOD:
  • Fry onions in a big pan with a small amount of vege oil until softened.
  • Add carrots and lentils.
  • Stir and add tinned tomatoes and one two cans of water.
  • Add vege salt/stock and pepper to taste.
  • Leave on low heat until carrot is softened and lentils cooked.
  • Serve nice and hot!
And just because I was craving something sweet I whipped up this yummy desert:

Buried under the mountain of ice cream and topping I had hidden a thin slice of cake, choc chips and some crushed wafer. Mmmmm........

And here's some yummy looking resin stuff I did the other day:

Crafting up a storm...

I finally managed to get the camera to work for me today!
Yesterday I went into a flurry of activity, sewing like mad for our unborn little one.
I decided some cute and totally useless items were needed.
Here was the result:

(he likes to hang with my fish in the bathtub)

Then after spending days sorting through patterns for fitted nappies and digging out old t-shirts and unpopular fabrics I finally got to sewing some!
Learnt a few things:
  • Snaps are a waste of time! They cut through my fabric and a big patch up job was needed.
  • Read through directions numerous times and pick out any mistakes and change!
  • Terry toweling is great for inserts but not as an overall layer-it restricts the elastic too much.
  • Finally feeling like I can sew these things with my eyes shut after so much trial and error is an amazing feeling.

The cute spotty fabric was from an awesome op shop find! A hand sewn original 70s dress-I felt cruel pulling it apart but I just had to use the fabric!
The pattern I found here.
I did a lot of research and this one seemed to be the best rated overall.

Then I pulled out these blank onesies that I was planning on doing cute patches on and remembered that I had fabric paint and they were just begging to look like this:

And after buying a whole box of mangoes on our trip to sydney and forgetting to eat them I finally decided that something had to be done! (Before they rotted in the box)
So I made some Mango Jam/Sauce.
It was supposed to be jam but it never wants to set for me. But after my last batch it has become a favourite with some friends (apparently tastes divine on pancakes!) so I figured it could stay a sauce.

Now I am going to run back to my sewing machine to finish more nappies (had to do emergency run to shop for more velcro!)

A tonne of (terrible) photos! EDITED with new pics...

Ok, so I couldn't stand those horrible photos that were sitting here and have decided to replace them with some of the better ones I've taken since our camera has decided to work.

Most of these are for sale in my Etsy ( www.pushthebutton.etsy.com)
Some of these others I had up here before I haven't had a chance to get photos of-there are just so many!
